Our Giving Back program illustrates how we embody shared values through our culture, community donations, and sustainability initiatives, backed by our steadfast commitment to The Gallagher Way.

People

Inclusion and Diversity

At Gallagher Bassett, we believe having a culturally diverse and inclusive workforce encourages unique perspectives and experiences, which drives innovation and helps deliver superior outcomes for our clients.

Understanding and responding to our clients' needs is best accomplished when our people reflect the diversity of our clients and their backgrounds, perspectives, and life experiences are valued. For our partners, Gallagher Bassett's investment in building a world-class organization means access to a stable, experienced, and vibrant workforce with a passion for customer service.

Our approach to diversity and inclusion is championed by dedicated leaders and committees. It is defined by processes, policies, and practices which are aimed to give all people at Gallagher Bassett the greatest potential to thrive.

Our commitment to diversity is reflected in the recognition we have received. We have been featured on Forbes' Best Employers for Women and America's Best Employers for Diversity lists and the Human Rights Campaign's Best Place to Work for LGBTQ Equality roster. We also have received recognition as a top insurance employer and top employer of young talent from numerous industry bodies worldwide.

Gallagher Bassett supports Dive In, the insurance industry's global festival for diversity and inclusion, and we are proud to sponsor the Black Insurance Industry Collective™ (BIIC™). The goal of the BIIC™ is to accelerate the advancement of Black professionals in the insurance industry and increase the representation of Black leaders at the mid-to-executive level. BIIC™ supports the development of Black talent in the insurance industry by providing training, networking, and educational opportunities.

Community

At Gallagher Bassett, we encourage teams and individual members of our organization to support the communities we serve through involvement in various charitable organizations. With our volunteering policy, our people can dedicate their time to a cause that is close to their hearts.

Through the Your Cause platform, we provide our people the opportunity to have their donations matched. Gallagher Bassett offers donation-matching to over 1,000,000 approved and registered organizations in 26 categories and 75+ countries.

Operating since 2007, Gentle Bear is the result of a collaboration between Gallagher Bassett and various emergency service organizations to help reduce post-traumatic stress-related injuries for first responders and to comfort children in distressing situations. Placed in emergency vehicles and given to children who have experienced trauma, Gentle Bear provides first responders with a useful aid in their work with children. Not only does Gentle Bear comfort the child, but research has also shown first responders' ability to provide immediate comfort to a child in distress reduces the negative emotional impact of these incidents on the responder. More than 17,000 Gentle Bears have been distributed worldwide to children in need and this number continues to grow each year.

Since 2013, Gallagher Bassett's employees have participated in the Workers' Compensation Institute's Spirit to Serve event and gala, benefitting Give Kids the World (GKTW) as part of the Workers' Compensation Institute conference. An 84-acre, non-profit resort in central Florida, GKTW Village provides weeklong cost-free vacations to children with critical illnesses and their families, including accommodation, transportation, meals, theme park tickets, and much more.

Gallagher Bassett is a proud partner of the Law Enforcement Torch Run® (LETR) for the Special Olympics, raising funds to support participation, engagement, and recognition opportunities for Special Olympics athletes and volunteers. LETR's goal is to build awareness of the Special Olympics, improve the future for those with intellectual disabilities, and pave the road for inclusion and acceptance. Through this partnership, Gallagher Bassett supports international, regional, and local programs for the LETR.

Sustainability

Gallagher Bassett invests in sustainable practices that will leave our communities cleaner and healthier than they are today. Through our parent company, Gallagher, we have committed to promoting sustainability and actively supporting the communities in which we operate.

We have set a goal of net-zero carbon emissions in our direct operations (Scope 1 and Scope 2) by 2050. Recognizing that the most significant reductions in our carbon footprint will come from the availability of renewable energy in our offices and technological advancements such as green aviation fuel, we are exploring realistic and sustainable ways in which we can directly impact our corporate carbon footprint.

To help all of our team members care for their communities, we have implemented the "200 Days of Sustainability" challenge, which enables Gallagher Bassett's employees to take meaningful steps toward safeguarding our planet.
